Can you skip side quests in NieR automata? ›

Completing NieR: Automata without engaging in side activities will not affect the ending whatsoever, but certain missions will offer some much-needed information about the game's world.

You can reach the area by going through the section where the big crater in the middle of the City Ruins is located. There will be a large sewer pipe you can travel through that will take you directly to the place where the Flooded City is located.

The player can only fast travel via Access Points. At first, there will only be options to go between the Bunker and Resistance Camp, but players can find other Access Points and interact with them to make them available.

Endings A through E are known as the main endings of the game and require completing the main story at least three times. It's important to note that ending E is the final ending players should aim to unlock, as it gives gamers the option to delete every game save if they choose to become one of the helpers.

The only ending it's possible to miss is Y. If you want to know how to make sure you don't miss it: During part of the fight, a countdown appears. In order to get Ending Y, you have to let the countdown finish; if you kill the boss before then, you can't fight it again and so can't get that ending.

You will need to go back to the City Ruins and back to the Resistance Camp, where you'll get a new Pod ability called Scanner. This will be needed to fulfill the objective at the Flooded City to find 9S. When you return back to the Flooded City, you'll need to scan for any android lifeforms within the area.

If you have the 3C3C1D119440927 DLC installed, you will receive a message through access point sometime during the game. Reading it triggers the special sidequest, Mysterious Letter. It will allow access to those elevators that were previously blocked by Apologetic Machines.

The Purpose Of Self-Destruct

Though some would argue the Self-Destruct mechanic to be somewhat of a useless action, it can sometimes mean the difference between life and death depending on when it's used. When activated, it will unleash a devastating A.O.E. attack and severely hurt surrounding enemies.

When focusing on the main objectives, NieR is about 20½ Hours in length. If you're a gamer that strives to see all aspects of the game, you are likely to spend around 66½ Hours to obtain 100% completion.

You get to fight Emil after doing "Emil's memories" right after the forest chapter. First fight is by knowing that he lives underground. Second is by having 100% weapons at level 4, go back to the shopping mall to fight him the second time.

To reach Endings C, D, & E you must your playthrough while obtaining all 33 weapons in the game. This includes all the weapons bought in shops, rewarded from Quests, and obtained from completing A Departed Mother's Diary. One such item is the machine core - an item that is filed as a crafting item but is actually designed to be sold in order to make cash fast. These bad boys can sell for as much as 22,000 a pop in the back end of the game - so it's well worth collecting them and selling them.

The first part of the game has a specific theme which becomes apparent fairly early on. Once the game tells you you have finished this theme, almost all current quests will become locked out shortly after (the fishing questline is, I think, the only exception).

During playthroughs with all characters, you can complete most of the side missions that are open to you. During some sections of the story, you won't be able to return to previous areas, which can cause you to miss out on finishing some of these side quests until later on.

All quests need not be completed to obtain all of the achievements.

There are a total of 60 side quests in Nier: Automata. These are divided into six different categories depending on which character they are available for. For example, some side quests can only be accepted and completed when playing as 2B, while others can be completed by any character.
