NH Primary Source: Sen. Tim Scott to push for GOP unity, slam Democratic budget plan, in NH visit (2024)

SCOTT TO ARRIVE TOMORROW. South Carolina U.S. Sen. Tim Scott, a rising star in the GOP nationally and a potential 2024 presidential candidate, is scheduled to arrive in first-primary state New Hampshire on Friday to headline two Republican fundraisers. New Hampshire Primary Source first reported in mid-August and early September that on Friday, Scott will be the featured speaker at the New Hampshire Republican Party’s Second Annual Amos Tuck Dinner at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Manchester and on Saturday, he will speak at a Concord Republican City Committee and Merrimack County Republican Committee joint fundraiser. The Annual Stretch Kennedy Picnic will be held at the home of longtime GOP activist Patty Humphrey, 78 Gavin Hill Road, Chichester, beginning at 11 a.m. NHGOP officials say that several hundred people are expected to attend the Manchester event. “The Senator is really excited about coming up to New Hampshire this weekend,” said Scott spokesperson Bradford Traywick. Trawick said Scott will have much to say about the Democrats’ $3.5 trillion budget bill. “Not just the number, but also its content, which is harmful to businesses and individuals,” Traywick said. Last week on the Senate floor, Scott said, “The content of this package is more concerning than the cost of this package.” He said that Democrats with a one-vote majority in the Senate thanks to Vice President Kamala Harris and a five-vote majority in the House “want to do something so fundamentally transformative that it scares me for the future of the kids trapped in poverty all over America.” “I don’t know how we continue to be able to preach the good news of economic opportunity and economic freedom when you’re on the road to socialsm. The two are antithetical.” Traywick said Scott will also address the Senate debate over raising the nation’s debt limit. And Scott will stress the need for unity in the GOP. “He likes to say that the road to socialism runs through a divided Republican Party, and so his message will be one that he hopes gets them energized and unified moving forward,” Traywick said. A spokesperson for Gov. Chris Sununu said the governor hopes to attend the NHGOP event. The spokesperson said Sununu believes Scott is “an incredible and effective voice for the Republican Party.”
